What impact does the Arc draw have when the race is run on soft ground?

The Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe is not only one of the great global events in this sport, it is also one of the great draw races.

The bare facts show a low stall number – ideally between one and six – is a significant advantage over a mile and a half at Longchamp.

However, a closer look at where the winners and placed horses come from in a modern Arc shows that, while there is a significant draw bias on ground with good in the official description, the effect is weakened by some magnitude when the going goes soft or heavy.
