Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Breeze-Up to carry £100,000 royal meeting bonus

Buyers heading to next April's Tattersalls Ireland Ascot Breeze-Up Sale will do so with the added enticement of a £100,000 bonus should they unearth a subsequent Royal Ascot juvenile winner.

Tattersalls Ireland on Monday announced the new incentive, which will be paid if any graduate of the sale returns to the royal meeting next June and gets their head in front.

In that event, the winning owner would receive 80 per cent of the bonus, with the remainder going to the vendor of the horse at the breeze-up sale.

"This is a fantastic initiative," said breeze-up consignore John Cullinan. "The Breeze-Up Consignors Association supports this Bonus wholeheartedly.

"It's no secret it was a challenging year for breeze-up consignors and we welcome any initiative to get buyers to the sales. There has been a significant number of breeze-up graduates win at Royal Ascot and this £100,000 bonus coupled, with the early timing of this sale, gives buyers an early opportunity to buy a Royal Ascot two-year-old as was done with previously at this sale.

"The bonus is an excellent idea to reward winning connections and the vendor and we will be supporting this sale with a good class of horse. I hope and fully expect fellow breeze-up consignors will follow suit."

Tattersalls Ireland CEO Matt Mitchell added: "We are delighted to be launching a £100,000 bonus for any two-year-old winner at the royal meeting sold at our Ascot Breeze-Up in April.

"The success of the Ascot Breeze-Up Sales graduates has been well documented in recent years, and has already sold a Coventry Stakes winner at the royal meeting with The Wow Signal, having been sold only two months previously.

"There has been a significant number of breeze-up graduates that have won as two-year-olds at the royal meeting and we felt it was worth rewarding connections with this bonus in the event it happens."
