After a successful day of bidding during the opening session of the Arqana Autumn Sale, Hubert Barbe missed out on Tuesday's session-topping son of Martaline, who was knocked down for €160,000 to Frederic Sauque.

Tuesday's session in Deauville was dedicated to two-year-old stores and National Hunt-bred yearlings and saw Barbe and Sauque go head-to-head for lot 307, an Haras de l'Hotellerie-consigned half-brother to My Way, a dual Grade 3 placegetter at Auteuil who joined Paul Nicholls earlier this year.

"He is a beautiful colt who has been bought for a syndicate involving people from the trotting and thoroughbred world," said Sauque of the grey, who will be trained by Francois Nicolle.

Sauque foiled Barbe a day after the latter's Horse Racing Advisory secured two of the three most expensive offerings on Monday for a combined sum of €455,000.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, one further lot had reached six figures as selling entered in the evening on the sole day of three that began later than 11am.

Saubouas Bloodstock signed at €125,000 for a colt by Doctor Dino named Guillaume who received a timely boost on Sunday when his half-brother Sceau Royal advertised his Betway Queen Mother Champion Chase claims with victory in the Grade 2 Shloer Chase at Cheltenham on Sunday.

"I like the sire very much," said the Haras du Saubouas principal Paul Basquin. "He produces good horses for the Flat as well as for the jumps and this horse is a beautiful type who will continue to mature - he was born on May 1.

"He will spend the winter on the farm and could go into training with Guillaume Macaire."

The Highflyer Bloodstock team were also active throughout the afternoon, having signed for 11 lots as selling entered its final throws last night, the priciest of which was a €70,000 son of No Risk At All, consigned by Haras de Montaigu.
