Imperial Sovereign is a big market mover in the William Hill Lingfield Derby Trial (3.00) and has been strongly backed from double-figure prices overnight.

Trained by Karl Burke, the three-year-old had been a general 14-1 and as big as 18-1 with bet365, but is now 6-1 to give his trainer success in the Listed contest. He is as short as 9-2 with Sky Bet.

Having won on debut at Newcastle in December, he was narrowly beaten at Kempton last time. While he does not hold a Betfred Derby entry, he is entered in the King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Irish Derby at the Curragh.

He is partnered by Clifford Lee, who is operating at a healthy 22 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight, while Burke is also represented in the race by the David Probert-ridden Arabic Legend.

Both horses are owned by Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum, who famously won this contest with Derby winner High-Rise in 1998. He also struck in it three years ago with Third Realm.

The Derby Trial market is headed by the Aidan O'Brien-trained Illinois at 2-1, as he bids to improve on his comeback third in the Ballysax Stakes last month.

Danielle to take part in Oaks Trial

Leading Oaks Trial (2.25) contender Danielle will take her chance in the Listed contest at Lingfield today.

An impressive winner at Wetherby last time, the John and Thady Gosden-trained three-year-old's run was in doubt earlier on due to concerns with the quickening conditions.

However after walking the course, John Gosden informed ITV Racing's Ed Chamberlin that she will run.

Going update: ground quickens again at Lingfield

The ground has quickened up further at Lingfield as the track stages its flagship card with plenty of Classic clues on offer.

Another dry night had led to the going being changed to good on both courses on Saturday morning. However, it was then changed to good, good to firm in places following the first race.

The seven-race card is the highlight of racing in Britain on Saturday, with the William Hill Lingfield Derby Trial (3.00) and William Hill Oaks Trial (2.25) both taking centre stage.

Lingfield also issued travel advice earlier in the week for those attending, with the M25 shut between junctions nine and ten for the weekend.

The going at Haydock on the hurdles track is good, good to soft in places as it stages the Swinton Handicap Hurdle (3.15), in which Cheltenham Festival hero Lark In The Mornin is the favourite. It is good to firm, good in places on the Flat track ahead of its unique mixed card.

At Ascot, Britain's other Premier meeting today, the ground has also quickened to good, good to firm in places following a dry night. Good Karma and Wobwobwob are non-runners in its feature Victoria Cup (2.40), in which 21 runners remain in contention.
