INHSC bonus scheme is lucrative but it doesn't seem to be having the desired effect
Gray Rock has enjoyed a particularly lucrative campaign courtesy of the Irish National Hunt Steeplechase Committee (INHSC).
The seven-year-old scooped a €1,500 bonus when opening his account at Borris House in December, as the older maiden that he was victorious in at the Carlow venue was one of seven races of that type this season that carried a bonus fund. Last Sunday, Liam Kenny’s gelding added a second bonus prize to his season’s work when easing to a six-and-a-half-length success in the INHSC winners' final at Dromahane, with a €3,250 enhancement coming with that victory.
Adding his €4,750 in INHSC bonuses to the standard win-only prize money that he built up, the bay has earned a total of €8,425 from his three successes this season. Not bad when you consider that he had to beat just four horses to scoop the most lucrative of his prizes last weekend.
