York Placepot picks: Paul Kealy makes in-form Johnston stayer a banker for perm
I'm quite keen on the chances of Nymphadora in the opener (1.40) at York, but it is a juvenile contest so more coverage is needed for the Placepot.
Crazyland knew her job well enough on debut, but there is no reason for her not to improve again, and her dam won over course and distance, so she goes in too.
Snow Lantern is a warm order for the next (2.10), but the market has got a little carried away with her pedigree as she's only a maiden winner, and others have better form.
She might prove a star, but I'll take her on with Love Is You, who is going to appreciate the extra furlong, and Primo Bacio, who is a big price on her unlucky-in-running fourth in the Fred Darling at Newbury.
Khagan was my sporting bet in the next (2.40), but I'd like to cover with some more solid performers in the Placepot, so in goes Satono Japan, who shaped really nicely on his return, and Surrey Pride, who definitely has races in him off his mark of 90.
Sir Ron Priestley looks all set for a busy season and should hit the first two in the Yorkshire Cup (3.10), so I'll bank there, while in in leg five (3.40) I'll add Shawaamekh to the two main selections (Get Knotted and Muntadab) following his excellent fourth at Chester.
The final leg (4.15) looks tough too, but Tweet Tweet showed tremendous speed to win at Thirsk on her return and can go close again, while Bedford Flyer can get a bit closer to her on more favourable terms.
