BANKER

Samburu Shujaa(3.25 Chepstow)

Philip Hobbs' five-year-old is reasonably quirky and has tendencies to hang and jump left throughout his races, but he's certainly talented and should be able to account for his 11 rivals in this maiden hurdle. He was given far too much to do when finishing fast to grab third on his seasonal reappearance in January, before throwing away a novice event at Exeter on his penultimate start. He looked quirky again last time out at Wincanton, but hopefully going left handed will sort him out.

EYECATCHER

Shyron(7.45 Kempton)

I've been keeping an eye on George Margason's seven-year-old since the Autumn and, not for the first time, he looked a very unlucky loser when runner-up on his last start over this course and distance. Held up in the last pair by Jane Elliott, he had plenty to do in the straight but made up a huge amount of ground down the outside and eventually only went down a neck to the reopposing Spare Parts. He was clearly the best horse that day and the race just wasn't run fast enough to suit. He's gone up 2lb since but that shouldn't stop him from making amends.
