Varian's Comets expected to step up in style at Epsom

Three Comets: holds Group 1 entries
1 of 1

Newmarket: David Milnes

Three Comets(2.30 Epsom, nap)

Won as he was entitled to do at Hamilton last time and fancied to make the next step up the ladder. Roger Varian's youngster has since worked well on the Limekilns.

Others to follow
Epsom: 2.00 Lady Cosette, 3.05 Arigato, 3.35 Juanito Chico, 4.10 Glenn Coco, 4.45 Allegiant, 5.15 Canford's Joy.
Musselburgh: 3.45 Ocelot, 4.20 Pride's Gold, 4.55 Big Sigh.

North: Richard Young

Patrick(3.45 Musselburgh, nap)

Down to a very good mark but clear signs of retaining plenty of
ability this season and better than bare facts of two of his last threeruns when poorly drawn. Better berthed here and fancied to go well inrace that should be run to suit.

Others to follow
Epsom: 2.00 Sword Of Gold, 2.30 Persian Moon, 3.35 Rebel Assault.
Musselburgh: 2.10 Mister Chiang, 2.40 Lang Toun Lady, 3.15 Chookie
Dunedin, 4.20 Crotchet, 4.55 Archive, 5.25 Our Place In Loule.

Lambourn: James Burn

Ganayem(3.05 Epsom, nap)

Down the field in the Sandringham at Royal Ascot, but had been progressive before then and looks to have more to offer. Another plus is the form of red-hot trainer Owen Burrows.

Others to follow
Epsom: 2.00 Two Blondes, 2.30 Pogo, 4.10 Walk On Water.
Musselburgh: 2.10 Nate The Great, 4.20 Sayem.

West Country:Andrew King

Nightingale Valley(4.45 Epsom, nap)

Takes a drop in class and expected to put up a bold show as long as the ground does not come up too quick for her.

Others to follow
Epsom: 5.15 Incentive.

Racing Post Ratings: Sam Walker

Groundworker(5.25 Musselburgh)

Disappointing on the all-weather last time but been pretty consistent without winning on the turf this season and this looks a decent opportunity back on grass.

Topspeed: Dave Edwards

Servalan(2.20 Naas)

May just have needed the run last time out and the step up toseven furlongs could bring out the best in her.

Longshot:Samuel King

Check Your Pockets(5.35 Naas)

Has been in good form this season and would have been unsuited by testing conditions last time out. Will appreciate this better ground and can go well under Declan McDonogh.

Ireland: Tony O'Hehir

Unfortunately(4.00 Naas)

Although his form this season has been largely disappointing, the Karl Burke-trained three-year-old did well last year when winning the Group 2 Prix Robert Papin and the Group 1 Prix Morny. His trainer has enjoyed a big September with his runners in Ireland and Chris Hayes's mountis the pick inthesix furlong event.
