Clive Cox has achieved some amazing results with relatively little ammunition at his disposal for a good few years now. Last year's Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes at Newbury (2.50) heralded the arrival of hislatestsprint superstar Harry Angel and it could be that the bookmakers have seriously underestimated his representative this year,Grand Koonta.
This is not the strongest Group 2 race and while the favourite Invincible Army has some solid form to his name, he certainly isn't unbeatable.
Next in the market is James Garfield, who was nabbed on the line over 7f in the Acomb last time. He is solid enough too but has won justonceinfiveraces, while Nebo ran badly in the Gimcrack last time.
The latter might bounce back at this track but Grand Koonta has always been highly regarded and didn't run at all badly in the July Stakes given the ground and draw were all against him.
Stuck out in the middle of the track, Grand Koonta didn't finish too far behind the much better drawn Invincible Spirit or Enjazaat and the more the ground dries out the better he will be.
If Grand Koonta brings his A-game to the table, he could easily spring a minor shock.
Invincible Spirit's trainer James Tate may enjoy better luck in theDubai Duty Free Handicap (3.25). HisLaw And Orderlooks much too big a price given how well he has run in two slowly run black-type raceson his last two starts.
He chased home Second Step at Windsor two starts ago and wasn't beaten far in the September Stakes at Kempton afterwards. On both occasions the pace wasn't strong enough for him but that won't be the case in this big field.
In the same race I do think that Threat Assessed can go well after a break butBroroccois a winner waiting to happen as he has been incredibly unlucky on loads of occasions this season.
At York behind Eddystone Rock, Brorocco travelled like a dream, as he always does, but was stopped in his run a couple of times at crucial moments. He's 5lb better off with the winner and has his ideal conditions too.
There is a chance that Hit The Bid might struggle to go what is likely to be a lightning fast early pace in theDubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes(4.00).
Take Cover, Caspian Prince and Thesmearethree of the fastest horses in training, soHit The Bidmight get too far back.
However he is undoubtedly a Group-class sprinter in the makingand he wasn't far behind Caspian Prince and Marsha at the Curragh last time when he got no cover whatsoever.
Hit The Bid doesn't have much too find on that form and we surely haven't seen the best of him yet. If the tongue-tie improves him, Hit The Bid has every right to be involved in the finish.
Back on quick ground Priceless, who is drawn right under the stands' rail, might prove the biggest danger.
Time To Study was backed if defeat was out of the question in the Mallard at Doncaster and while he did win, he was all out to do so and he is stepping up another half mile in theBetfred Cesarewitch Trial Handicap (3.10).
He might improve for the step up in trip butWho Dares Winswas unlucky not to win the Chester Cup off a similar mark and clearly found the track and trip too sharp at Chester on his comeback run.
