Tote Placepot: Richard Birch on a competitive Tuesday card at Catterick
There are three bankers in my Catterick Placepot perm, kicking off with Real Stone in leg one (12.30).
The Dan Skelton-trained hurdler has a clear chance on form, and the horse who finished in front of him twice in recent weeks, Grumpy Charley, will now be rated close to 140 after beating Eamon An Cnoic at Chepstow last Thursday.
Evander emphatically looked one to keep on the right side when scoring by 14 lengths at Doncaster in December, and can be excused two subsequent defeats. This slick-jumping front-runner is fancied to get firmly back on track in leg two (1.00) with an all-the-way success.
Chuvelo and Stepney Causeway, who receives 8lb from his main rival, merit inclusion in leg three (1.30), with Justforjames, dropped in class, and low-weighted Henry’s Joy appealing in leg four (2.00).
Relkadam impressed when winning at Wetherby last Tuesday, and a follow-up success looks very much on the cards in the concluding leg (3.00).
