The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Saturday
Lady Buttons(2.05 Doncaster)
Philip Kirby's runners are in flying form of late (27 per cent strike-rate in the last fortnight) and this improving eight-year-old mare has returned to action this season in fine fettle and can rack up the hat-trick. She steps back up in trip, but that shouldn't be a problem, comes out clearly on top on ratings and should have the race set up perfectly for her. Drinks Interval and Rene's Girl are just a couple of plenty who like to get on with things here and a strong pace will suit Lady Buttons down to the ground.
This year's edition of the Challow Hurdle looks fantastic and more than a few eyes will be on Nicky Henderson's high-rated Champ, but he looks too short in the market for me and instead I'll be backing the Tom Lacey-trained Kateson. This grey gelding has some pretty decent bumper form in the book, but looks to have improved plenty for switching to hurdles and is unbeaten in the sphere with two victories from two races. I was really impressed with how he gave weight and a beating to a good field over this course and distance last time out and expect him to step up from that effort here.
The Leopardstown bumper looks a match race between Mt Leinster and Meticulous, with the former set to go off a short-priced favourite – that should mean Joseph O'Brien's Meticulous rates a decent betting proposition. He absolutely destroyed ten rivals on debut at Killarney, boasts an exciting turn of foot, is impeccably-bred and it's interesting that he's owned by Michael Tabor, who doesn't have many, if any, Irish-trained jumps performers.
