The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Thursday afternoon
Medalla De Oro(6.30 Newmarket)
This 1m2f trip might be on the sharp side for Medalla De Oro, but Harry Whittington's six-year-old is well treated off a mark of 77 (last two victories have come off 77 and 79) and he was in rude health when last seen. He has had just one start for Whittington, which came in a Fakenham novice hurdle on debut in that sphere, and he seemed to have improved plenty for the stable switch by recording a bloodless success. Now reverting back to the Flat, this in-form gelding is expected to show another jolt of progression and is taken to make it two-from-two since wind surgery.
This six-year-old has proved consistent in Class 4 company over the last couple of seasons and is probably in the grip of the handicapper off a mark of 81. However, he has placed three times off similar ratings to this and won off 83 back in June 2018, so there are grounds to believe he may be able to get his head in front for the sixth time. The main angle to his chance is the fact that he returns to Newmarket's Rowley Mile. Saluti won by a head on his sole start at this venue and is clearly favoured by quick conditions here.
