The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tips on Sunday afternoon
A typical Sir Mark Prescott improver who showed little in three novice starts over sprinting trips last year. Given he is by sprinting sire Slade Power, you would have expected to see him have some kind of pace, but he was pushed along early in each of his first three outings over 7f. However, he clearly improved for a winter on his back, a gelding operation and the switch to handicap company when he beat the well-treated My Girl Maggie on his return at Pontefract over 1m4f six days ago. He has to carry just a 6lb penalty this afternoon and he should back up.
Emirates Knight(4.55 Kempton)
This is a pretty competitive 0-88 1m4f handicap but it's pretty hard to ignore the recent form of trainer Roger Varian, who is represented by Emirates Knight. This colt showed good improvement in handicap company last year, the highlight of which was a nose victory at this track. The runner-up that day went on to win decisively on her next outing while Emirates Knight was stepped up in grade and bumped into the extremely talented Faylaq. He struggled off higher marks on his last two outings but clearly goes well fresh and looks to have a leading chance on his return.
