Sweetspots: Simcock should make a Fierce Impact at Hamilton
Ed de Giles does well with winners making a quick return to the track and is operating at a 25 per cent strike-rate with such types. Sheikspear was a game winner at Chepstow last week and has to be considered in Newbury’s 4.55.
David Simcock has a great record when sending his runners a considerable distance and has a 41 per cent strike-rate (14-34) with horses making a 361-mile trip or more in the last ten years. Fierce Impact makes the journey up to Hamilton for the stable in the 7.55.
Ballesteros has dropped in the weights this year and can take his chance in the 1.50 at Haydock from a 7lb lower mark than when he won in November. Connor Murtagh eases his burden further and this previous course-and-distance winner should go well.
