Sweetspots: Hurdling debutant can crush rivals at Catterick
Alan King’s runners need taking very seriously at Catterick with the trainer holding a record of four from five at the course. He runs Crushed (12.30), who was useful on the Flat and can improve the record.
Hakam (Newcastle 4.35) ran a nice race on his only start at the course and drops to the minimum trip with a visor added. Trainer Mick Appleby has a 20 per cent strike-rate when employing the headgear for the first time.
Itstimeforapint was just beaten in the North Yorkshire Grand National (Catterick 2.35) last year, and returns off the same mark today. This has surely been the target and he can go two better.
