Sweetspots: Captain Lars can chart a long course to victory
Archie Watson has a 50 per cent strike-rate at Catterick and Captain Lars bids to enhance that record in the 5.10. A winner at Ffos Las eight days ago, he makes another long trip (trainer 29 per cent when sending runners 234-plus miles) and has a good chance of a quick follow-up in what looks a weak race.
When Olly Murphy recruits from other yards he has a 27 per cent strike-rate. Todd makes his debut for the trainer in the 5.30 at Worcester. He has been off the track for nearly two years, so will probably need the run, but is fitted with a first-time tongue-tie – trainer 33 per cent on such occasions – and is on a workable mark.
Sir Mark Prescott likes to get one on a roll and Altra Vita bids for her fifth win from her last six starts in the 7.10 at Salisbury. Prescott has a 46 per cent record when running winners again within seven days and Altra Vita, who has thrived since stepping up in trip and scored at Ffos Las six days ago, chases the quick follow-up.
