Sweetspots: Beckett's Cross My Mind is well worth thinking about

Brighton stages the second day of its summer festival on Thursday
1 of 1

Ralph Beckett has an impressive 38 per cent strike-rate at  Newcastle and sends one horse there – Cross My Mind (7.55). This  three-year-old daughter of Cape Cross can leave her latest run well behind and continue to progress.

When Adam Kirby rides for Luca Cumani at Brighton it’s worth taking note. They have a 50 per cent strike-rate when combining at the course and team up with Ashington (3.30). The drop back to a stiff 1m4f should play to the gelding’s strengths.

William Haggas has a 23 per cent strike-rate with handicap debutants over the past five seasons and saddles Beauty Filly (4.20) at Yarmouth. She was a course winner on her debut and looks very interesting having shown plenty of ability in novice company this season.
