Well-handicapped veteran can strike on suitable conditions

Credit: Charlie Crowhurst

Newmarket: David Milnes

Glassy Waters (5.10 Pontefract, nap)

May not have stayed when third to Cross Step at Lingfield and should do better now dropped back to this extended mile. Saeed Bin Suroor's hope has since worked well on the Limekilns round gallop.

Others to follow
Pontefract 2.15 Awsaaf, 2.50 Melting Dew, 4.00 Raven's Lady, 4.35 Eagle Creek.

Lambourn: James Burn

Fox Appeal (3.10 Southwell, nap)

A winner off just 2lb higher in the spring, this ten-year-old should remain capable from this sort of mark while conditions should suit.

Others to follow
Pontefract 4.00 Excellent Sounds, 5.10 Caravela.

North: Colin Russell

Sandra's Secret(5.40 Pontefract, nap)

Goes well on a stiff track and, although below form on soft ground last time, the better going will suit her better and she's fancied to take advantage of her current good mark.

Others to follow
Pontefract 2.15 Viscount Loftus, 2.50 Bear Valley, 3.25 Almost Gemini, 4.00 The Wagon Wheel, 4.35 Isabella, 5.10 Ascot Week, 6.10 Mr Orange.
Southwell 2.35 Boss Des Mottes, 3.40 Jacks Last Hope, 4.15 King Golan, 4.50 Bygones For Coins, 5.25 Cosmic Tigress.

West Country: Tim Mitchell

Braavos (3.40 Southwell, nap)

Patchy record overall but went down fighting at Uttoxeter returning from a break last time and, with the scope for more at this distance, he is fancied to go one better despite the 4lb rise.

Others to follow
Southwell 2.35 Highbury High, 3.10 Art Of Payroll, 4.50 Runasimi River, 5.25 Full.

Racing Post Ratings: Simon Turner

Highly Sprung (5.40 Pontefract)

Surprisingly just 2lb higher than when winning a better race at Redcar on his penultimate start. Clearly fairly treated and with conditions to suit he should go well in this competitive sprint handicap.

Topspeed: Dave Edwards

Lomu (4.35 Pontefract)

Has won all three starts on turf and Keith Dalgleish's improving colt can maintain his unblemished record on grass.

Longshot: Ed Quigley

Classical Times (4.00 Pontefract)

Unexposed sort who is of interest dropping back down in trip and can't be ruled out in an open-looking race.

Ireland: Tony O'Hehir

Pearl Of The West (5.00 Curragh)

An easy winner over slightly longer than this 1m4f trip at the Galway festival, the Pat Fahy-trained filly can follow up off a 10lb higher mark and against older rivals. She is on a hat-trick and gets the vote to score under Billy Lee.
