BANKER

Elwazir(3.05 Haydock)

Although he has 4lb to find on the Official Ratings, Owen Burrows's Elwazir has proven in two starts this year he's a Group performer in waiting and can record the hat-trick under Jim Crowley. The Meon Valley Stud-bred son of Frankel hacked up on his first start as a three-year-old in what was a good Sandown maiden in June (second has subsequently won a Group 3), and built on that when running away with one of the best three-year-old handicaps this season. With just four runs to date he can progress further and take this prize onto bigger and better things.

GOOD THING

Ajrar(3.45 Newmarket)

Richard Hannon has won the last two runnings of the Group 3 Sweet Solera and he can bring up the hat-trick with Ajrar, who has caught the eye on both starts and rated an unlucky loser last time. The Nayef filly was held up on a day where it favoured those who raced prominently at Sandown and, after running into plenty of trouble, stayed on well to grab second. This is a small step up in class but she should take it in her stride and providing the recent rain doesn't affect her, she'll be a confident bet to score.
