The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Saturday
BANKER
Sea Of Class (4.50 Newbury)
All eyes will be on Crystal Hope following her easy and impressive Sandown novice victory, beating the first and fourth home in the Musidora by over three lengths, but I'm happy to take her on at the prices with the equally-promising Sea Of Class. William Haggas doesn't enter his young horses into Listed company – especially if they're winless – for no reason and this well-bred daughter of Sea The Stars could prove too good for her rivals on the back of a decent debut effort. She was well-backed that day at Newmarket's Craven meeting and, although she got beat by the subsequent Musidora sixth, she travelled like the best horse in the race. James Doyle wasn't hard on her and she'll improve plenty for that.
EYECATCHER
Communique(3.00 Newbury)
This is a really good race and plenty of winners will come out of it. My eye was initially drawn to topweight Connect, who looks certain to come on for a decent seasonal reappearance – albeit finishing last – in the Greenham behind James Garfield. But the fact he was to give weight all round puts me off and instead I've sided with Mark Johnston's maiden Communique. Running off a mark of 84, which no doubt underestimates him, the son of Casamento bumped into useful types Blue Mist and Dukhan on his two juvenile appearances last Autumn before finishing third when looking an unlucky loser on his reappearance in March. He ran a nice race on his first time over this trip and on turf at Sandown last month and hopefully he can build on that to go close here.
DARK HORSE
Runners carrying less than 9st have won three of the last four runnings of this contest, including Eastern Impact in 2014, and his trainer Richard Fahey has a good chance of winning this year's contest with Showmethedough. Carrying 8st 10lb, the Marwan Koukash-owned three-year-old has run encouraging races in two appearances this year off higher marks and the return to six furlongs, the trip at which he notched his only victory, looks certain to suit.
