Lucky Clover can complete treble with Balgair at Newmarket

Credit: Alan Crowhurst

Newmarket: Anthony Burke

Balgair (5.35 Newmarket, nap)

Winner of his last two races, one of them being over course and distance, when last seen in June. Tom Clover's Balgair doesn't appear to have been over penalised for that effort and can build on what has been a productive summer so far.

Regal Mirage (7.50 Hamilton, nap)

Below his best last time but the race didn't go his way. Had been in good form prior to that and as he is three from three on the course and is fancied to bounce back.

Lambourn: James Burn

Manson (5.25 Goodwood, nap)

Five-year-old is capable off 92 and is worth another go at this trip having kept on pleasingly on his recent outings, while Gabriele Malune is riding well and is an eyecatching booking.

Margub (3.20 Chelmsford, nap)

Bolted up over course and distance on comeback and can score again before having his sights raised.

Others to follow
Chelmsford
5.05 False Id

Racing Post Ratings: Simon Turner

Boy In The Bar (1.50 Goodwood, nap)

Course and distance winner who looks well handicapped for a crack at this good prize. Easy to excuse latest defeat and expected to go close.

Topspeed: Dave Edwards

Melting Dew (2.25 Goodwood, nap)

Has scored twice over ten furlongs this season and Sir Michael Stoute's progressive four-year-old may prove equally effective over this longer trip.

Longshot: Sam King

Lancelot Du Lac (3.40 Goodwood, nap)

Dean Ivory's sprinter won this race in 2017 and although he's run below form on turf this year, it wouldn't be a surprise to see a return to form and he can outrun his odds.

Ireland: Tony O'Hehir

Oscar Knight (4.45 Galway, nap)

A versatile perfomer, the Tom Mullins-trained nine-year-old, a course winner over fences, appeals in today's long distance handicap hurdle. Rated 5lb lower than he is over fences, he gets the vote to score under Mark Walsh.

Sun Maiden (3.00 Goodwood, nap)

Sir Michael Stoute has been the man to side with in the Gordon Stakes (3.00 Goodwood). He's had eight runners in the last decade, with five winning and two more placing. Therefore, his Sun Maiden can take the beating.
