Paul Kealy has an affordable perm for day one of the Cheltenham Festival
Many years ago I had a Cheltenham Festival Placepot perm totalling more than 4,000 10p lines and it promptly went down in the first leg!
That was in the days when big fields were standard, though, and the day one offering suggests a more conservative approach is required as, unless there are some major shocks, it isn't going to pay much.
I want to take Appreciate It on in the first (1.20) as I'm not convinced he's as good as his Irish form looks, but whether I can get him out of the three is another matter.
There's no opposing Shishkin in the Arkle (1.55), but the Ultima (2.30) needs some more thought. I'm going with Aye Right, Alnadam and Discordantly and leaving out the two under-priced British novices Happygolucky and One For The Team.
I must be going mad considering she's never been beaten, but I still feel Honeysuckle is the one most likely to bomb in the Champion Hurdle (3.05).
The next (3.40) isn't competitive and Concertista probably needs to fall to miss the frame. While that has twice happened to a Willie Mullins-trained favourite in this, she's still a banker.
Pool punters will be spoilt for choice with the Tote also offering Scoop6, Jackpot and Survivor pools all week.
