Mullins can close gap on Elliott by landing feature at Fairyhouse

Willie Mullins: big day for the trainer
1 of 1

It will be fascinating to follow the Irish trainers' championship for the rest of the season, and defending champion Willie Mullins might be able to bite back today as Jarry D'Honneur looks to have rock-solid claims in the feature Bar One Racing Dan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase (2.30) at Fairyhouse today.

There is €100,000 of prize-money up for grabs, so it is certainly a race worth winning, and I have a feeling Mullins has had the race in mind for Jarry D'Honneur for quite some time.

Fairyhouse card

He was far too keen to do himself justice last time at Leopardstown but ran better than his finishing position suggests. He has the look of a well-handicapped horse and could strike for Mullins and Mark Walsh. It could also be worth including big outsider Caolaneoin, who travels well and likes Fairyhouse.

The banker on the card has got to be Ballyoisin in the 2m1f beginners' chase (3.00). He was still in front when coming down four out on his last visit to Fairyhouse and is held in very high regard by Enda Bolger.

The opening 2m mares' hurdle (1.00) looks a match between Mullins and Gordon Elliott and Barra and Kate Appleby Shoes are worth including in coupons.
