EYECATCHER

Welliesinthewater(3.20 Leicester)

Derek Shaw's eight-year-old is starting to look well handicapped given he's running off a 10lb lower mark than this time last year and has performed well the last twice he's been seen on the track. Following his neck victory ahead of a dual subsequent scorer at Doncaster at the end of June, Welliesinthewater ran respectably over this course and distance when third last time out after missing the start. He raced on the worst part of the track that day but was only beaten half a length and off just 1lb higher, he can go close.

DARK HORSE

Open Wide (7.00 Windsor)

Although he's extremely hard to win with with his hold-up tactics and high head carriage not making him the easiest ride, Open Wide has a good chance of getting back into the winner's enclosure now partnered by Ryan Moore. Drawn in stall five and likely to get a good run through the race with plenty of pace about, Amanda Perrett's gelding can hopefully weave his way through and pounce late. He has to turn the form around with Quench Dolly, who he was third behind on his penultimate start, but he's handicapped to do so and performed well when getting no luck in running at Goodwood last time out.
