The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Monday

Ruth Carr: looking towards the big sprint handicaps for Magical Effect
Ruth Carr: trainer of Pipers Note

BANKER

Pipers Note (3.50 Ripon)

Ruth Carr's eight-year-old has fallen down the weights in recent times and now races off a mark of just 89 – the lowest since he won over this course and distance in August 2014 – and should take advantage. The course specialist has been performing well away from his favourite venue but the return here is crucial and, given this is a much weaker event than he's used to running in, his class should tell. He last ran here four starts back when a decent second to Sandra's Secret, who has scored again and finished second in Listed company subsequently, and Pipers Note was trying to give her 8lb that day. He's going to be one of my bigger bets of the week at around the 9-4 mark.

GOOD THING

Rosina(3.20 Ripon)

Another horse taking who is running below her class is Ann Duffield's Rosina, who faces five runners in this 0-85 handicap. The daughter of Showcasing is now 2lb lower than when winning a Newcastle sprint in January and you can dismiss all four of her runs since. She was sent to Southwell on her next start and hated the track, before contesting much better races at Chelmsford and York. She was much better on her reappearance run at Beverley at the start of the month and is sure to come on for that effort. Franny Norton gets aboard today and she should be favourite.
