The Hong Kong Marathon takes place on Sunday with a maximum field of 74,000 being warned about the dangers of trouble in running caused by errant runners taking selfies.
Local trainer Danny Shum has suffered different traffic trouble – he's nursing broken ribs after trying to halt a loose horse – but he can end the week with an apt winner when Healthy Joyful contests the South Wall Handicap at 6.00.
This gelding did his best to make the most of a drop to Class 3 company here three weeks ago, finishing a clear second when chasing home the fast-improving Conte.
This race doesn't have the same depth – though the well-treated Volitation is worth a saver on his return to turf – and Healthy Joyful looks a sound bet to go one better if he's 3-1 or better.
The strapping Conte is set to start odds on to take his unbeaten record to four in the finale at 9.45, while stablemate Nothingilikemore will be a similar price for the featured Hong Kong Classic Mile at 9.10.
I'm in no rush to oppose Conte but Nothingilikemore faces a strong field headed by Exultant (third in Churchill's Irish Guineas when known as Irishcorrespondent) and might have to work harder than the market suggests.
Finding good value bets on the rest of the card isn't easy.
The duel between the hulking grey Pingwu Spark and impressive debut winner Easy Go Easy Win in the 8.35 is well worth watching but this could be a case of take your pick at 6-4 or shorter.
Beaut Beaut has the speed to go well in the opener at 5.00, while Brilliant Dream isn't one you would want next to you in the trenches but has the ability to play a big part in the 7.00 if Pierre-Charles Boudot can gel with him at the first time of asking.
