US racing tips: Tom Collins has two selections at Belmont Park

Infinite Potential
8.34 Belmont Park
2pts win

Fierce Lady
9.40 Belmont Park
1pt win

Just a month remains of Belmont Park's spring meeting and following last week's stellar card that featured seven Grade 1s, horseplayers are given time to breathe this Saturday as New York's top equine performers stay on the sidelines.

The $100,000 Dancin Renee Stakes (9.40 Belmont) headlines proceedings, a 6f sprint for fillies and mares on the dirt main track. There isn't much early speed in the field so it should be favourable to sit up near the leaders.

Sadie Lady could make the running after a game display in the Vagrancy Handicap and she's dangerous if gifted the early initiative, but there's likely to be little value in her price. Instead, I prefer Fierce Lady for trainer Brittany Russell.

Drawn inside in gate one, Fierce Lady is likely to adopt a stalking trip just in behind the speed and gets the assistance of leading rider Luis Saez, fresh from his Belmont Stakes victory on Essential Quality.

She's been a bit disappointing since her monster debut win at this track in 2019, but produced a fine kick to win on her first start for Russell off a six-month layoff here last month. A similar display would see her go close.

Keep an eye on Infinite Potential in the $90,000 maiden special weight (8.34 Belmont) contest earlier on the card. This well-bred filly performed with great promise on debut despite being unfavoured by the slow early gallop. Natural improvement makes her hard to beat.
