The Punt Daily: Tom Collins' free horse racing tip on Tuesday afternoon
EACH-WAY PLAY
This 2m hurdle looks wide open on paper but I'm willing to take a chance on topweight Smiths Cross, who is dropped in grade, trip and reverting from chases for trainer Michael Scudamore. Backing last-time-out fallers isn't something I'd advise, but Smiths Cross was extremely tired when he fell at the last fence over 3m and largely jumped well before that. Now the nine-year-old returns to hurdling, a sphere in which he has recorded three seconds from five starts, and gets first-time blinkers fitted. Backed in 2018, Smiths Cross finished second to Secret Reprieve and Remastered in a couple of novice hurdles and he rates a very well-handicapped off a mark of 112.
