The Punt Acca: Robbie Wilders' four horse racing tips on Saturday

Merveillo (2.00 Haydock)

A high-class stayer who finished third to Manobo in September in a Saint-Cloud Listed race for Christophe Ferland, Merveillo made an encouraging stable debut for Jonjo O'Neill in a hot Newbury handicap when fourth at a big price last month. The winner and fifth from that race franked the form by finishing first and second next time at York and Merveillo is entitled to improve for the run. The four-year-old has opened up at a monster price here for a stayer of his talent, and the booking of Tom Marquand combined with a 2lb drop can work the oracle.

Mister Wilson (2.35 Haydock)

Gavin Cromwell is operating at a 32 per cent strike-rate on the Flat in Britain and a £1 bet on all of his runners would have yielded a £16.35 profit. While Mighty Ulysses will be tough to beat in the Silver Bowl at Haydock, the Cromwell-trained Mister Wilson can upset the favourite. The form of Mister Wilson's second to Markaz Paname in the Madrid Handicap on his stable debut was franked by the winner scoring at Group 3 level on his next outing. Mister Wilson is up 1lb for that but Aidan Keeley takes 7lb off and he looks a cracking each-way bet off a low weight with the forecast rain in his favour.

Duke De Sessa (3.20 Curragh)

The Irish 2,000 Guineas revolves around Native Trail but I couldn't bring myself to take 1-3 about a horse who has never run on ground worse than good. There is plenty of rain around at the Curragh and this will be the slowest ground Native Trail has encountered, so I want to side with one each-way at a price who goes in the conditions. Duke De Sessa fits the bill and Dermot Weld's decision to run him down in trip just 13 days after disappointing in the Ballysax Stakes is intriguing. Mac Swiney did the same thing last season before winning the Irish 2,000 on testing ground and Duke De Sessa, who has always been extremely highly regarded, might be able to cause a huge shock.

King's Lynn (3.45 Haydock)

Winter Power looks a short-priced favourite to take on in the Group 2 Temple Stakes as her York form is far superior to anywhere else. This is her seasonal return too, and King's Lynn looks the bet after a decent comeback at Chester in which he was a little too wide round the home turn behind smart three-year-old Flaming Rib, who was receiving plenty of weight. This sprinter should have more to offer at five years of age and produced one of the best runs of his life over this course and distance with a bit of cut in the ground.
