Haydock Placepot picks: Paul Kealy has two bankers on Thursday's card

With plenty of runners and only one novice contest, Haydock looks the most appealing card for a crack at the Placepot.

Dawson Lane could one day prove a fair bit better than her handicap mark in the opener (1.00), but it makes sense to go with a couple and course winner Boudica Bay, who has been in good heart lately, fits the bill.

The next (1.30) is a no-brainer for Storm Chaser, who won a hands-and-heels race by 26 lengths last week and is unpenalised. She is just the small matter off 11lb well in.

With rain around there may well be a few non-runners, but two who shouldn't have any problems in the third (2.00) are Go Beyond and Echo Chamber.

Leg four (2.30) looks far more competitive than the average novice, and although a nod is given to William Haggas's excellent strike-rate with two-year-olds at this venue, his Desert Hero will have to know his job as several of these have shown plenty.

My suggestions would be Doncaster third and the well-related .

In the fifth (3.00) Haymaker can't have been right last time at Newmarket as he raced awkwardly from the start. He looked so well handicapped the time before that I'm prepared to forgive him.

The consistent Thunder Legend goes in as back-up, which just leaves the final leg (3.30) in which I'm more than happy to rely on Cold Stare as he has so much in his favour.
