Progeny of Golden Horn have tended to stay really well and I expect an improved showing from Golden Maze on his first try over 1m6f in the Copper Horse Handicap at Royal Ascot. Making his first start for Roger Varian since leaving Jessica Harrington, Gold Maze was never a factor in a Listed race at this course over 1m4f last month but the ground was too soft and he shaped as if badly needing the run. He has since been gelded and having finished ninth and sixth in the English and Irish Derbys last term, he should be weighted to go well on his second start for Varian. His mark of 99 appeals on his handicap debut.
