Sedgefield Placepot tips: Richard Birch provides his fancies for Tuesday's card

Kick off the Sedgefield Placepot by including Babajan and Ramure in the juvenile maiden hurdle (2.00). Both shaped well in recording top-three finishes over jumps recently and should prove capable of dominating this contest.

The Gordon Elliott-trained Mr Caplan, a winner at Wexford in July, will have plenty of supporters in the 2m4f novices' hurdle (2.35), but do not underestimate Gordon's Jet either, who ran a blinder against Sheriff Garrett at Hexham in June.

Brother Pat sets the standard in the novices' handicap chase (3.10), but it would not be a surprise to see Cilluirid, who has long looked the type to take to fences, improve past him.

Sergeant remains a well-handicapped performer off a mark of 84 after an impressive Newton Abbot success and stands out in the conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle (3.42).

Lucky Robin, a winner over hurdles this month, can take advantage of his more favourable chase mark by following up in the 2m1f handicap chase (4.12).

Art Of Diplomacy would make plenty of appeal for the 2m4f handicap hurdle (4.45) if there is market support on his return from a layoff, while Countister – a comfortable scorer at Kelso last time – seems sure to run her race and provides a solid back-up.
