Sandown Placepot picks: Paul Kealy provides his perm for Thursday's card

There isn't a single meeting in Britain with fewer than two races that doesn't have each-way betting to three places, so the Placepot choice isn't great, although I'll stick to Sandown where you need to find the winner of leg four (2.45).

I'd be hopeful that will be Classic Lord though, as I'm sure he's better than his second here last time suggests.

He was a bit too keen early and then took an age to wind up, but the trainer of the winner was talking in terms of the Melrose afterwards, so it might have been a good run anyway, and he's the one to beat with Oisin Murphy taking over.

The opening race (1.00) features plenty who have lost their form recently, but the opposite is true of Buy Me Back, who may have run 21 times, but has won four of his last seven and was particularly impressive last time.

I'll bank there as well, and in the next (1.35), in which Dukedom will probably be a warm order. He may have ran into a very good horse in Sonny Liston when a well-beaten second at odds-on here last time, but he did enough wrong in the race himself and was clearly way better than the result, so should come on well from the experience.

Form filly Wild Beauty and Qipao would be my two in the next (2.10) against favourite Inspiral, while in leg five (3.20) main selection Old News is joined by Prospect, who wasn't beaten far on his last two runs and might respond to a first-time hood.

I'm quite keen on Lady Reset in the last leg (3.55), but we'll add Civil Law, who has been progressing nicely since the spring.
