Richard Birch lines up some strong selections for the Placepot at Pontefract

He should not drive back south empty-handed as Crystal Pegasus looks a banker in leg one (12.15).

The two at the top of the handicap, Baryshnikov and Sudona, merit inclusion for the second leg (12.45).

Baryshnikov ought to be highly competitive in a race of this nature off a mark of 74, while regular runner-up Sudona brings strong recent form to the table and it’s difficult to envisage her not going close again.

My two for the 5f handicap (1.15) are Balancing Actand the well-drawn Araifjan.

Garsman makes considerable appeal for leg four (1.50), while my two against the field for leg five (2.20) are course-and-distance scorer Billy Roberts and another well-drawn contender, Dancin Boy.

Frankelio has been put up only 2lb for a recent course-and-distance success and should prove hard to beat in the final leg (2.50).
