Newbury Placepot picks: Paul Kealy has two bankers for Saturday's card
The Newbury Placepot is not massively enticing given there are two four-runner races, but at least we can bank in the first (12.10).
gave 8lb and a beating to Ahorsewithnoname and Elle Est Belle here 23 days ago, and they are her main market rivals despite being 5lb worse off. She should make the first two easily enough.
The four-runner novice chase (12.40) is tougher as all have chances, but I'll jettison Ashtown Lad, if only because is a horse I've been really looking forward to and the other two, Ahoy Senor and Mr Incredible, look to have a bit of extra class.
is a strong fancy for the next (1.15), but it is competitive and , who ran well at this track three times last season, gets the back-up vote.
Lecale's Article could be one to oppose in the next (1.50) as he's not exactly thrown in on his hurdles form and is supposed to be going chasing soon, so this could just blow the cobwebs away.
I'm expecting to step up on his already good form now he goes up in trip, while last season's Lanzarote winner is running himself into form and is not the outsider his odds would suggest.
Only four go in the next and it's worth taking a chance by banking on favourite . He should have too much speed for these, especially with Gowel Road coming back five furlongs in trip.
That just leaves the Ladbrokes Trophy, in which my main two, and , can be joined by , an on-merit winner of last season's bet365 Gold Cup who lost the race in the stewards' room.
