Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings
Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team
Ascot
1.45: Stellar Magic
The vote goes to Stellar Magic(nap), who ran well at Haydock on his seasonal/handicap debut and looks likely to build on that effort. He has evidently recovered well from the knee injury he sustained last February. Second choice is topweight Garry Clermont, who has solid claims on form. Unexpected Party is open to further progress and commands respect, while Fils D'Oudairies needs a close look on his debut for Nicky Henderson. A few others also have possibilities.
Steve Boow
Haydock
2.35: Empire Steel
Royale Pagaille is the highest-rated chaser to contest this race since Jodami won in 1997 and he should put up a bold defence off only a 7lb higher mark than when such a dominant winner 12 months ago. However, the unexposed second-season chaser Empire Steel(nap) might be so well handicapped that he can afford to be 3lb out of the weights. He was moving like the winner when coming down at Wetherby over Christmas. Remastered has solid credentials and Sam Brown may yet have his hour in a high-profile staying handicap such as this.
Alistair Jones
Lingfield
4.10: Insomnia
Both Radetsky and Nefarious scored over C&D recently and they each have to be respected if in the same form, but the vote goes to Insomnia(nap). His two performances since returning last month suggest the ability is still there and he may have more to offer after just four starts. Algheed and Princesse Animale look best of the others.
David Bellingham
Navan
2.50: Indiana Jones
A few of these have had chances, none more so than The Bosses Oscar although he had a genuine excuse in the Paddy Power. Ain't That A Shame has scope for improvement, but if he is over his heavy fall at Naas last month, a good standard is set by Indiana Jones (nap) on his two previous runs and he will take beating.
Justin O'Hanlon
Taunton
1.33: Amelia's Dance
Top of the list is Amelia's Dance(nap), who raised her form to a new level with a stylish win over C&D 12 days ago. Second choice is Tease And Seize, who won the first two of his three hurdle runs and could resume his progress on this big drop back in grade. Rhebus Road and Cornicello also look interesting on their handicap debuts, while another to consider is Man Of Light, who has finished placed in similar events in his last two runs.
David Moon
Wolverhampton
6.30: Old Port
The way he ran on to lead towards the finish over slightly shorter here on his handicap debut suggests Old Port(nap) should have more to come at this trip so he can make light of a 5lb rise. Crown Power (second choice) and Mighty Power arrive in reasonable form and should figure if reacting positively to first-time cheekpieces. Broomy Law is another who should have a part to play.
