Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's six meetings

Saturday selections for Bath, Chester, Doncaster, Leopardstown and more

Saturday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Bath

2.05: Madame Ambassador

Mr Professor looked a different horse at Kempton last week and is probably ahead of the handicapper despite a 7lb rise, but Madame Ambassador also has every chance. There are reasons for upgrading her latest run at Salisbury and the winner went in again at Windsor on Tuesday. Golden Romance is potentially a big improver over this far.

Chester

3.50: Major Jumbo

It's well over two years since the front-running Major Jumbo kept his head in front, but this looks a good opportunity. He's down in grade, runs off his lowest mark since 2017 and has a fine record at Chester. Course specialist Powerallied could be the main danger from the inside stall, with Abate another to consider.

Doncaster

1.45: Treacherous

Plenty to consider but it's worth noting, for the whittling-down process, that the last ten winners all emerged from double-figure draws, with the last four winners berthed in stall 14 or higher. Treacherous is drawn 17 and appeals based on his near-miss at Windsor two starts ago, when clear with a highly progressive winner. A line can be put through his latest run at Goodwood where he was never travelling in first-time cheekpieces, and the headgear is left off today. Venturous (stall 16) won at York two starts ago and remains well handicapped, so is second choice ahead of Jawwaal (21), who has an excellent record at Doncaster bar a blip in this race last year. Recent Haydock winner Mondammej (11) is another to consider, while it would be folly to write off those in single-figure stalls, and Boundless Power, Justanotherbottle and Hurricane Ivor are all respected (in that order of preference) along with last year's winner Stone Of Destiny.
Ben Hutton

Leopardstown

1.40: Mother Earth

A good renewal of this contest, with potential Group 1 performers such as Pearls Galore and Acanella attempting to make the step up. Last year's winner Champers Elysees needs to rediscover that level of form, while Shale showed signs of life at the Curragh last time. However, the proven level of Group 1 form shown this season by Mother Earth in a sustained manner makes her very much the one to beat.
Justin O'Hanlon

Lingfield

4.10: Bobby Kennedy

A few of these remain capable of a fair bit better. Jerriais and Knight Of Kings have claims, while the hat-trick seeking Wadacre Gogo is of obvious interest, but Bobby Kennedy is preferred back from his break. Progressive in the spring, he ran into the proverbial handicap blot at Salisbury when last seen and he remains open to further improvement.
Paul Smith

Musselburgh

3.30: Tyche

With so many of these inconsistent, it's not hard to keep faith in the hat-trick-seeking Tyche. Beechwood Emily was well behind the selection last time but she has the ability to turn things around if blinkers trigger a response. Bawaader, disqualified from first in this last year, could also go well.
