Nap of the day: best horse racing tips for the day's five meetings

Tips from Huntingdon, Sedgefield, Dundalk, Lingfield and Wolverhampton

Friday's best bets from the Racing Post's unbeatable Spotlights team

Dundalk

6.15: Barbapapa

Not the strongest of maidens. Likely improvers after one run include Askarabad, Precedent and The Churchill Lad but the one to beat is Barbapapa (nap) who had little luck in running here last month and looks to have a good opportunity here.
Justin O'Hanlon

Huntingdon

2.00: Mahler's Promise

Our Power just managed to fend off a subsequent winner at Wincanton last month and remains quite well handicapped on his best hurdling form but preference is for Mahler's Promise(nap), who comes here after two very creditable runs off today's mark at Sandown towards the end of last year.
Chris Wilson

Lingfield

12.40: Coolagh Magic

A few possibles, with Big Time Maybe likely to benefit from the longer trip and Bungledupinblue from the return to this track. Seprani needs monitoring in the betting back under these conditions but Coolagh Magic(nap) might be the answer. A course winner on his stable debut, he was a solid third at Kempton four weeks ago and remains on a very sporting mark. His inexperienced apprentice looked very accomplished at Southwell on Tuesday and can make his second ride a winning one.
Paul Smith

Sedgefield

1.20: Cailin Dearg

The mare Cailin Dearg(nap) has won over C&D the last twice and the manner of those victories suggests this progressive 7yo has more left in the tank. She earns the vote ahead of the very lightly raced 7yo Son Of The Somme, who went close at Doncaster on his handicap debut in November. Rubytwo has been in good form since the blinkers went on.
Ben Hutton

Wolverhampton

6.30: Famous Star

This is a higher grade for Famous Star(nap) but it's still hard to ignore her claims given she escapes a penalty for her cosy handicap debut success over C&D at the beginning of last week. Nate The Great may give her most to do.
Andrew Sheret
