Kempton Placepot picks: Tom Collins provides his perm for the evening meeting

The opening 14-runner mile handicap (5.25) should whittle down the Kempton Placepot pool with very few pieces of solid recent form on show.

Kevin Philippart de Foy has made a fantastic start to his training career and his unexposed four-year-old, Poet's Eye, is the obvious inclusion despite the wide draw. First-time blinkers on Stormbomber could elicit improvement, while Sophosc's form figures at the trip read 11110.

With three selections in leg one, it's wise to bank in both divisions of the mile novice to keep the lines down.

Pride Of Priory looks a certainty to hit the frame in the first (6.00) after an encouraging debut. Likely short-priced favourite Mo'assess has crystal clear claims in race three (6.30).

I'm going three-handed in the 7f novice (7.00) as those with experience don't set the bar overly high. Newcomers Carbon and Reversion boast intriguing pedigrees, while Adjudicator might take a big jump forward from his first start at Ascot.

Pennymoor, a daughter of Frankel, showed enough at Pontefract last time when runner-up behind a subsequent winner to earn banker status in the penultimate 1m4f fillies' novice (8.00).

The hat-trick-seeking Chai Yo Power will be tough to beat in leg six (8.30), but strength in depth is crucial if you get to this stage of the Placepot and Keep It Brief provides requisite backup.
