Keith Melrose looks to Sandown for prospective Placepot riches

Sandown could have quite an attractive Placepot pool, so a liberal perm is suggested. That starts in the eight-runner opener, in which My Way is supported by Diable De Sivola and Call Me Vic.

Leg two needs some finesse and it certainly seems logical to skirt round Early Du Lemo. Stablemate Darebin is a more solid option, even though he can be hard to catch right, along with Dandolo Du Gite.

Morning Vicar is a great Placepot option in leg three, but needs support in such a competitive race and Mister Murchan provides it.

Star Gate has been all the rage in the early betting in the feature and is hard to kick out. Any News is likely to be less popular than he should be though, so is also included.

The best place options in the 3.00 are not necessarily the best win bets. Potters Hedger and Portrush Ted will handle conditions, which gives them something of an edge.

There is scope for a last-leg banker and it is provided by Whitehotchillifili, who has form on notably testing ground and did not run at all badly on reappearance. Her mark looks high enough, but that need not concern placepotters as much as general punters.
