Vincent Ho’s season is ready to gather momentum with six rides on Wednesday's Happy Valley card, the best of them being a promising type who finished second to Irish St Leger winner Sonnyboyliston at Gowran Park 15 months ago.

, who was 2-7 for Fozzy Stack before export, remains a maiden in Hong Kong after a further seven starts, but he looks set to open his account locally in the Class 3 handicap (3.15), over 1m1f.

Sonnyboyliston was in the early stages of his career when they met in a mile handicap, so it may be misleading to rely too heavily on that fact alone, but four-year-old Meaningful Star, who is now with Francis Lui, is typical of a horse fully acclimatised.

He finished an encouraging second over a mile in a lower grade on his seasonal debut two weeks ago. That was a strong pointer to his chances here off 8st 5lb, and near bottom weight, against stronger opposition.

Ho has ridden two winners this term, and in teaming up with Lui it is the popular Golden Sixty combination working together again.

Jerry Chau has been one of the great success stories to emerge from the apprentice ranks, and he is only two wins away from graduating to senior jockey status. He can edge closer the milestone aboard Noble Desirein the Class 4 6f sprint handicap (2.15).

Noble Desire finally found winning form late last season and is poised to carry on from where he left off over course and distance in June. Drawn 8, Chau will have to be alert to get an early position, with his dangers being Aurora Pegasus and Management Supreme.

Stable changes are always worth noting, and the switch of Hong Kong Bet to Chris So is significant with reference to the gelding’s prospects in the Class 3 5f sprint handicap (2.45), in which he will be partnered by Joao Moreira.

His draw (5) should see him parked behind those in the firing line in the charge to the first turn. Harmony N Blessed looks the main threat in an open race.
