French racing tips: Scott Burton with his best bets at Lyon Parilly

Plateado
Lyon Parilly 12.50
1pt win

Anahata
Lyon Parilly 1.25
1pt win

The Quinte handicaps that dominate the lunchtime fare in France from Monday to Thursday leave plenty for punters to get stuck in to and Monday's Prix Aquitaine (12.50 Lyon Parilly) is no different.

This contest is for four-year-olds and with the relatively unexposed pair Souveraine Elusive and Deacon vying for favouritism you can understand why it is a tempting puzzle.

Souveraine Elusive recorded an easy success in a handicap at Saint-Cloud last time out, while neither odds-compilers nor PMU bettors in France will have missed the booking of Pierre-Charles Boudot.

Souveraine Elusive might well be improving at a rate of knots but she will need to be, since she has been hammered to the tune of 9lb by the assessor for that three-length success on what was atrocious ground.

However, it may pay to side with trainer Yann Barberot's other representative Plateado, who is coming off the back of a good fifth on the all-weather at Deauville last time out.

Plateado travelled powerfully into the contest having been last turning in and left a good impression from a poor draw.

Cristian Demuro will have many more options from stall six and Plateado can be at least as competitive as his stablemate.

Those seeking clues in the Prix Basse Pointe (1.25) don't have a huge amount to go on. Zahony shaped with promise behind Irska on debut at Chantilly in March, with the winner adding weight to the form with a conditions race success at Saint-Cloud this month.

But the well-related Anahata could give her something to think about having been given time to develop after her sole outing at two when fifth at Fontainebleau.

A homebred half-sister to Group 1 winner Zonza, Anahata should have learnt from that experience, while the Devin stable's three-year-olds have been going well since the resumption.
