Ayr Placepot picks: Richard Birch provides his perm for the Scottish track

Ayr’s card makes the most appeal for Placepot purposes and Arranmore and Flying Moon are the suggestions for leg one (1.25).

Recent Carlisle scorer Arranmore retains significant handicapping scope off a low mark for David O’Meara, whose stable he only joined last month.

Flying Moon has not recaptured last season’s sparkle so far this term, but it is too early to write him off, as he won four handicaps in Scotland in 2020.

Monsieur Jumbo, an £85,000 son of Caravaggio, shaped well over course and distance on his debut and looks banker material to build on that in leg two (2.00).

Harswell Duke and Royal Advice, who will be suited by the step back up to 7f, are the recommendations in leg three (2.35), while speedsters Eeh Bah Gum, who appeared to go off too fast at Nottingham last Monday, and Never Dark could fight out the finish to leg four (3.10).

Keep Busy, fifth to Oxted in the Group 1 King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot last Tuesday, stands out in leg five (3.45), while a back-to-form Four Kingdoms and Irish raider New Society look the pair to concentrate on in leg six (4.20).
