The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with two to follow on Friday

GOOD THING

Samarquand(1.30 Exeter)

Although this is a pretty good novices' hurdle with a handful of smart prospects, I'd be shocked if Samarquand didn't progress to be by far the best of these and he may already be good enough to take his winning streak to three despite giving weight all round. It won't be plain sailing, but he's done plenty wrong on his two career starts and still come out on top in both and it certainly wouldn't be wise to bypass him with further experience under his belt. His jumping will need to be better than last time, but the second that day has boosted the form and Samarquand boasts a really nice change of gear when asked that could put his rivals under immediate pressure.

EYECATCHER

Molineaux (2.05 Exeter)

Colin Tizzard's seven-year-old, who races in the same colours as stable star Thistlecrack, has been in my tracker for the last two years and I'm convinced he's good enough to win a race of this nature off his current mark of 128. He took a lot of time to come to himself but progressed up the ranks last year when notching a series of consistent efforts from 2m to 2m4f, ending the season with probably a career-best effort to win at Chepstow. He showed up for a long way on his return at Sandown before fading late on and will have come on a lot for the run. I'll be surprised if he's out of the first three.
