The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Saturday
BANKER
Island Of Life (4.35 Haydock)
Having tipped her plenty of times last season when she frustrated in defeat, it is time to go back to the well with Island Of Life after a cracking all-weather campaign. She looked a surefire winner on turf last summer but threw away a number of opportunities after an extremely eyecatching run at this track and I ended up deserting her. However, she had a wind op at the end of the summer and it seemed to bring about serious progression. Her turf mark has gone up 20lb since she last raced on the surface, but hopefully she can continue her improvement at a track that she definitely enjoys. Signora Cabello, the forecast market leader, receives a nice weight pull from her older rivals but is definitely worth taking on.
GOOD THING
Earl Of Harrow (7.50 Salisbury)
There are a number of unexposed horses in this 0-65 handicap over 1m4f and I wouldn't be overly surprised if a horse like Midport or Yellow Label showed dramatic improvement, but they will have to go some to beat Earl Of Harrow, who I think should be clear favourite and rates good value at around 11-2. Mick Channon's three-year-old shaped extremely well on his handicap debut over 1m6f but having moved into the race like the likely winner, he clearly didn't stay the trip and faded into fifth. Leniently dropped 2lb for that, Earl Of Harrow firmly dispatched a reasonable field for the grade at Windsor and is able to compete off 1lb lower here, with Scott McCullagh's 7lb claim more than covering his penalty.
EYECATCHER
Nakeeta (2.15 Haydock)
The class edge is talked about a lot in racing and one horse that certainly has that over his field is Nakeeta, who scrapes into a 0-100 for the first time since 2016. Iain Jardine's stayer has proven himself on plenty of big stages over the last few years, including winning the Ebor and not being disgraced in the Melbourne Cup, and this would be a walk in the park for him if he was back to his best form. He has only had one start since his foray to Australia and although he finished eighth of nine, he shaped with plenty of promise in a much better race than this over in Ireland.
