The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Saturday

BANKER

Solid Stone(3.00 Newbury)

The London Gold Cup handicap often produces numerous future winners and has been won by smart types like Al Kazeem, Time Test and Defoe in recent seasons. You have to be very well treated to land this contest and that could be the case for Sir Michael Stoute's Solid Stone, who competes off a mark of 91. This Sharmardal colt showed plenty as a juvenile and after two encouraging displays in defeat on his first couple of runs, he readily got off the mark at odds of 2-7 at Newcastle. He beat the reopposing Forest Of Dean off level weights on that occasion and should easily confirm the form over this more suitable trip. Solid Stone really impressed on his reappearance when winning at Newmarket and will have come on plenty for that race.

EYECATCHER

Lavender's Blue (4.50 Newbury)

Amanda Perrett doesn't send out many first-time-out winners and you had to take note when this extremely attractive Sea The Stars filly fairly hacked up on debut at Newmarket last month when well backed. That race doesn't look the strongest (runner-up filled the same berth since) but you can't fault the way she demolished the field that day and she will undoubtedly improve for that effort. Lavender's Blue hit the line powerfully despite not being asked for everything, which suggests the step up in trip will suit.

IRISH ANGLE

Gopsies Daughter (3.05 Navan)

This is a poor 45-65 handicap and it can fall in the lap of Gopsies Daughter, who caught the attention of punters and the stewards when finding all kinds of trouble last time out at the Curragh. She finished tenth of 30 that day and could well have gone very close if granted a clear run. This is a big step down in class, she is a two-time course-and-distance winner and can record her first win since August last year.
