The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow on Saturday
BANKER
Persian King(2.25 Newmarket)
Andre Fabre doesn't send his horses over to Britain for no reason and in this two-year-old son of Kingman, he looks to have a really nice prospect on his hands. Likely to be sent off a skinny price for the Autumn Stakes, Persian King bids to complete a hat-trick after extremely impressive five and six-length victories over this trip at Chantilly. He beat a good juvenile of Freddy Head's last time out and his only defeat came on debut at the hands of that trainer's Anodor, who was beaten just a length in the Group 1 Jean-Luc Lagardere last time out when sent off the 5-6 favourite. Fabre will have big plans for Persian King and victory here is expected.
EYECATCHER
Al Qahwa(3.15 York)
How many times have I thought Al Qahwa will win and he's let me down? Plenty, but we go again. There haven't been many handicappers that have been as eyecatching as Al Qahwa this season and David O'Meara's five-year-old almost got his belated victory last time out when flying home from a terrible draw in the Ayr Silver Cup. Drawn anywhere near the nearside rail that day and he would have scored and he can gain compensation here off just a 3lb higher mark. He remains very well handicapped on his old form and he will relish the conditions.
DARK HORSE
Baydar (5.00 York)
Another five-year-old I am fond of is Baydar, and I'm sticking with him as well as he gets stepped up to 2m½f for the first time by trainer Ian Williams. He hasn't been with the yard that long but has hinted he is ready to win a race the last twice off marks of 88 and 89. Left on the same rating as when an unlucky fifth last time out (found trouble at a crucial stage), Baydar will undoubtedly travel like a good thing throughout the race and hopefully can fend off rivals close to home under Richard Kingscote.
