The Punt Daily: Tom Collins with three to follow at York

BANKER

(3.35 York)

The Musidora is all about this Frankel filly. She has work to do on form given she has won just an average Yarmouth mile novice event, but her pedigree suggests she will improve dramatically for this step up in trip and she is open to any amount of improvement this year. She looked clueless throughout her debut run and only put her head down in the final furlong, galloping to the line with intent. She is with top connections, who rate her highly, and she could be a potential Group 1-standard filly.

GOOD THING

Space Blues (4.05 York)

Despite carrying topweight on handicap debut, Space Blues must go close in the 7f contest for Charlie Appleby, Godolphin and James Doyle as he looks a potential Group-class colt. The son of Dubawi hacked up on debut in November, beating subsequent winners and talented sorts Private Secretary, Technician and Smarter with ease, before finding soft ground and a slow gallop working against him on his return. Granted, he disappointed when finishing second to a Roger Varian-trained inmate last time, but he could be a smart prospect as well and I expect Space Blues to make amends.

DARK HORSE

Whinmoor (2.25 York)

This 6f contest is wide-open but one that might be underestimated in the market is Whinmoor, who is forecast to open at around 18-1. Nigel Tinkler's four-year-old came to life last summer after a number of disappointing efforts, racking up a four-timer on quick ground, before finding life tougher in Class 2 affairs after a long season. He looked right back to his best when finishing second to Lake Volta on his return at Yarmouth and will relish a strong pace today. His draw is perfect and carries just 8st 5lb after Rowan Scott's 3lb claim is taken into account.
