BANKER

Athassel (5.30 Kempton)

Although he's a bit of a cliff horse for me, Athassel rates a fairly confident selection in the opener at Kempton. Dave Evans's heavily-raced nine-year-old has found himself running off a very attractive mark considering he was competing off 30lb higher last year, and has bounced back to form the last twice when recording form figures of 24. He's often slowly away but is drawn in stall one, which should allow him to get a nice run through the race against the rail. Always strong in the late stages, he will hopefully come with a well-timed run to come out on top.
