Saturday tips: our regional experts with their best bets of the day

Newmarket: David Milnes

John Ryan's hope was just run out of it at Lingfield last week and blew out well for this on the Al Bahathri on Wednesday. He can strike in a first-time visor.

Khalid Abdullah's homebred has performed with credit on her three outings, going close at Wolverhampton last time. That effort puts her right in the mix for this, while an opening mark of 63 looks fair.

Oscar Rose (3.15 Newbury, nap)

Finished a fair sixth in this race last year and the combination of better ground and her jockey's 7lb claim suggest she can improve on that this time around.

Topspeed: Dave Edwards

Royal Birth (3.45 Lingfield)

Recorded his third course-and-distance success when scoring here three weeks ago and could again be in the shake-up.

Longshot: Olly Eden

Salmanazar (2.05 Newbury)

Alan King's yard are flying and this consistent gelding rallied well to finish fourth last time out, shaping as though this longer trip could suit. He looks to have an each-way chance from the foot of the weights providing the drying ground poses no problems.

Ireland: Tony O'Hehir

Soviet Pimpernel (5.50 Thurles)

The Peter Fahey-trained four-year-old shaped well on his debut at Leopardstown earlier this month when runner-up to the well-regarded Sixshooter and can get off the mark here under Derek O'Connor.
